In a Kingdom by the Sea

It’s a long way back to the point where we began

The point where as kids we ran

In a kingdom by the sea

There was you and me.

Then we grew older and there was a line of sand-

But then there wasn’t;

-Things fast get out of hand.

In a kingdom by the sea

Trapped in a land of pleasantry

We ran to reality

But there was nothing much to see.

There was the tall grass before the ocean blew,

There was a way to forget all we once knew.

Puffed away in a giggle of smoke,

Realising life is one cruel joke.

In a kingdom by the sea

We crumbled to ashes;

In a kingdom by the sea

Big kids make big splashes.

In a kingdom by the sea

Soon you learn that growing up

Is all about childhood’s recovery.
